PAC Visions & Voices Series - Maheen Kazim is a Lahore based textile artist. Maheen studied textile design within the Interdisciplinary program of Pakistan institute of fashion and design, Lahore. After completing her bachelors at PIFD she joined a clothing brand, working as a designer for their cottage line involving craft of hand embroidery.
Later Maheen joined Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design as a lecturer in textile design department, at the same time she started working on her new project where she wanted to work closely with the local weaver community in Kasur. Most of the handloom weavers have abandoned the craft in favor of power looms or other businesses. Maheen developed a small handloom unit where she works with a team of 6 weavers, a master weaver and a warper. Maheen enjoys exploring different possibilities in weave and re-examining traditional khaddi techniques of cloth making on different types of looms with the help of local weavers.

Excited to share a beautiful activation we recently completed at the USC Pacific Asia Museum (usc_pam). The new exhibit, “OSCAR OIWA: DREAMS OF A SLEEPING WORLD," is on display now through April 26, 2020. These vibrant outdoor stair decals are inspired by the exhibit and are designed to last until long after the activation has ended. Our vinyl is both weather and fade-resistant to keep every step looking as colorful as it did on installation day. We love the intricate details of this activation!
RIP Rhoda M. Lo 🙏
