March 3, 2021 – May 8, 2021

ONE Archives at the USC Libraries (ONE) in collaboration with USC Visions and Voices, USC Pacific Asia Museum (PAM) and South Asian American Digital Archive (SAADA) is pleased to present Archival Intimacies: Queering South/East Asian Diasporas– a multi-part exhibition and series of programs.

At ONE, three artists-in-residence, Prima Jalichandra-Sakuntabhai, Vinhay Keo, and Pamila Matharu, have developed new works in response to the archive. These new works reflect their engagement with histories of immigration, family histories–both blood and chosen–diaspora, and queerness. Accompanying these new works is an exhibition examining the history of Satrang, an organization supporting queer South Asian communities in Southern California and placing its evolution in context of broader histories.

PAM will host a selection of previously produced works by Prima and Vinhay that are in dialogue with their new works. SAADA will digitally host the exhibition on Satrang and collaborate on programming with ONE. This program is curated by Aziz Sohail and Alexis Bard Johnson. Sohail has been a curatorial researcher at ONE since September 2021. Johnson has been the Curator at ONE since September 2019. This project is supported by the ONE Archives at the USC Libraries, USC Visions & Voices: The Arts and Humanities Initiative, USC Pacific Asia Museum, South Asian American Digital Archive (SAADA), and Satrang.
