For additional tickets, attendees were encouraged to reach out via email at info@pam.usc.edu. Seating was on a first-come, first-served basis. Program details were reviewed carefully.

USC Pacific Asia Museum was proud to have hosted Tibetan monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery in South India. They spent four days creating a Sand Mandala, a Tibetan Buddhist tradition involving the creation and destruction of paintings made using colored sand. Once completed, it was dismantled as a symbol of the Buddhist belief in the transitory nature of material life.

The opening blessing ceremony took place on Wednesday, January 24th at 2:00 PM, and the closing dissolution ceremony occurred on Saturday, January 27th at 3:00 PM. Museum visitors were able to observe the creation of the mandala during regular public open hours.

This program was included with the cost of admission.
